Lore

Onyxia's Lair is located in Dustwallow Marsh, and is accessible only when in a raid group and only if you have the Drakefire Amulet. It must be in your inventory, although it does not have to be equipped.

Onyxia is the daughter of the mighty dragon Deathwing, and sister of the scheming Nefarion Lord of Blackrock Spire. It is said that Onyxia delights in corrupting the mortal races by meddling in their political affairs. To this end it is believed that she takes on various humanoid forms and uses her charm and power to influence delicate matters between the different races. Some believe that Onyxia has even assumed an alias once used by her father - the title of the royal House Prestor. When not meddling in mortal concerns, Onyxia resides in a fiery cave below the Dragonmurk, a dismal swamp located within Dustwallow Marsh. There she is guarded by her kin, the remaining members of the insidious Black Dragon Flight.

Priest

Trash mobs

Only MT (Main Tank) will be tanking the trasmobs. This is the easiest part as all the priests will need to just keep the tank alive and heal from time to time fellows that get hit by the AoE effects. If a raid member get too close to the trash mobs, don't waste mana in healing, they all should be satying at range. Help them learn the hard way, even if that's mean :).

PHASE I

Position yourself to the left or the right of Onyxia according to your group position. If you don't know where to go, just follow your group. When it's your turn to heal, stay at the sides of Onyxia and at maximum healing range from MT. Usually 1 healer and 1 druid will be healing the MT at any given time. Paladins might also help in keeping the MT alive. Tipically healers in the the 1st healing group heal during all the PHASE I.

PHASE II

When Onyxia fly away, every priest should cast Shadow Word: Pain on her. Until she's at 43% keep casting SW:P on her. At 43% recast SW:P and prepare to go for Phase III.

During this phase and in between the SWP casting your major duty as a healer is to keep MT and Mages alive. If you are in a group with a mage, it's your duty to keep him / her alive: mages need to AoE during this phase and need PW:S (Power Word: Shield) and some heals. Tipically you should have 2 max 3 waves of Whelps to AoE.

If you are in Priest healing group 2, you should be using your mana during this phase, healing MT and trying to protect mages (although for mages you will have help from the other healers as well).

Priests in the healing group 3 shouldn't be healing during this phase and their mana should be over 90% when PHASE II Starts.

PHASE III

This is when the 3rd healing group (and usually last), start healing. While healing group 2 finishes it's mana pool.

During this phase you will get feared, so stay close to the ledge and on Onyxia's sides, again keep your healing range at maximum. Priest in healing group 1 should not heal and get some mana back.

This phase is quite fast, and when Onyxia is low on health (2-3%), every priest can just jump in and heal the MT and throw renew to people that need it.

DPS Tactics

Rogue

Trash Mobs

They cast an AOE damage spell so equip a nice ranged weapon and shoot away from a distance to avoid dying.

PHASE I

Position yourself to the left or right side of Onyxia to avoid getting hit by her tail. To use backstab, position yourself near her back until you are able to backstab. Feint whenever its up and vanish if you get aggro.

PHASE II

Stay under Onyxia, spread out a bit from the others and continue to attack her with sinister striker/backstab and eviscerate. No need to use feint. Bandage if you are hit by fireball.

PHASE III

Once main tank regains aggro, attack her as you did in Phase I. Staying at maximum melee range and as close to the wall as possible away from the cracks to avoid being feared through the surging lava. If you don't have Blessing of Salvation, get it recast on you or moderate your damage to avoid gaining aggro.
